^ “Disneyland announces major update to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge”.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened on Disneyland in 2019 and took fans to a new world in a way never seen before on the Happiest Place on Earth. Roaming characters and words specific to a region (You might be greeted with “Bright sunshine” instead of “Good morning”) paints a picture of Batuu, the remote outpost where the story of Galaxy’s Edge takes place.

Another important detail in the story of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is its timeline. It was clear that the guest visiting Galaxy’s Edge was eexperience the Star Wars universe between the two Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi And Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker.

Seven years after it first opened (I Can’t believe it’s been going on that long), Galaxy’s Edge will receive its biggest update yet that essentially erases that timeline, making the world more timeless — literally.

Disney began hinting that the timeline set for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge could be a thing of the past in 2023 when Din Djarin, aka The Mandalorian, was introduced as a character walking the land (Ahsoka Tano’s meet-and-greet debuted later that same year). For those less familiar with the Star Wars universe, the Disney+ series Mandalorians occurred about five years after the event Star Wars: Episode VI — The Empire Strikes Back and about 25 years before the event Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens.

TL;DR: The Mandalorian doesn’t fit into the original Galaxy’s Edge timeline.

With the presence of Grogu, the Mandalorian’s presence in Galaxy’s Edge has fans talking that Disney may be considering reversing its stance on the Galaxy’s Edge timeline, and now we know for certain that the way we experience this immersive world is about to undergo major changes. This change is rolling out on April 29, 2026.

Original Star Wars trilogy characters are coming to Galaxy’s Edge

One of the most obvious examples of Disney’s discontinuance of the original Galaxy’s Edge timeline is in the form of characters added to the film’s lineup. On April 29, 2026You will be able to recognize it Darth Vader, Leia Organa, Han Solo, and Luke Skywalker in Galaxy’s Edge (Galactic Civil War and the New Republic). With the arrival of Darth Vader, Kylo Ren will move to the Disney Visa character meet and greet experience in Tomorrowland.

If you’re looking for these characters, Disney gave us some hints about where you can find them. Luke Skywalker will roam the outpost in search of knowledge of the Force and artifacts related to building lightsabers, kyber crystals, and more. Leia Organa may be seen near the Millennium Falcon, where he will recruit travelers and locals to help keep Luke safe. Han Solo would also linger around his prized ship, tempted by the local canteen.

According to Disney, Rey and the Resistance will continue their fight against the First Order at the Resistance Camp. This suggests that the Resistance Camp area in Galaxy’s Edge will remain in the newer trilogy timeline (Age of Resistance and First Order) between Episodes VIII and IX, with an Outer Rim post area where you can see the OG trilogy characters (Galactic Civil War and New Republic).

The forest area on the outskirts of Black Spire Outpost will also represent the Age of the Resistance timeline, because that’s where you’ll find Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.

You probably noticed it too Rey in the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge area when this change rolls out. In the market, you can see it Ahsoka Tano, the Mandalorian, And Liquor.

John Williams’ Star Wars score will play throughout Galaxy’s Edge

Sound and music will play another big role in the reimagining of Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Park. On April 29, the land will be filled with John Williams’ iconic music from the first six Star Wars films. Recognizable motifs from the main Star Wars theme will greet guests as they enter Batuu. Other options will be included “Han Solo and the Princess”, “Desert Auction and Robots”, “Emperor”, and much more.

New story details coming to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

In addition to the original trilogy characters and music choices added to Galaxy’s Edge, other small but noticeable detail changes will be implemented throughout the land. For example, First Order Cargo Store will be renamed Black Spire Surplus, offering “artifacts from across galactic history.”

Dok-Ondar Ancient Nest will begin featuring new and unique items from its past. Finished hour Droid Warehouseprevious generations of the Mubo family would now create BB-style droid prototypes, setting shop in an earlier timeline. And Savi’s Workshop may include an appearance by Luke Skywalker as he searches for “information about lightsabers and the Force.” The shopping experience at Savi’s and Droid Depot will remain the same.

The previously announced changes will be coming to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

Big changes were already underway in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge before this latest announcement. Starting this May, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers on the Run will display a new storyline centered around the Mandalorian and Grogu. This new mission will take passengers to new destinations, including Bespin, Coruscant, and the ruins of the Death Star near Endor.
