Miles of white sandy beaches, warm turquoise waters, and fun activities for all ages: Grand Cayman, the largest of the three islands in the Cayman Islands, is truly a Caribbean family vacation paradise. On a recent visit, I explored Grand Cayman’s resorts, hotels and vacation rental villas along the island’s famous Seven Mile Beach and found a resort that provides the perfect home base for families.
What is Seven Mile Beach?
Seven Mile Beach regularly earns awards as one of the best beaches in the Caribbean. It hugs the west side of Grand Cayman and is a very long stretch of soft coral sand that welcomes the warm Caribbean waters. This is a public beach, so you can walk for miles along the water, stopping at beach bars and destination restaurants along the way.
DREAM VACATION: 10 Caribbean family resorts to put on your bucket list
Notes on all-inclusive resorts on Grand Cayman
Many islands in the Caribbean are known for their all-inclusive family resorts, but Grand Cayman is not one of them. When I talked to local experts, they told me that there used to be several all-inclusive resorts on Grand Cayman, but over the years they closed. Why? Grand Cayman is safe and easy to navigate, so it makes sense that visitors wouldn’t want to stay in one place on vacation. There is too much to do and see all over the island. It’s also great for locals, as island-hopping visitors also help support Grand Cayman’s outstanding culinary and arts scene.
Seven Mile Beach Resort is best for families
Seven Mile Beach Resort puts families in a central location to play, eat and relax. But with so many resorts to choose from, how do you decide? Places across this price spectrum wow me with their family-friendly offerings.
1. Westin Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach Resort & Spa
George Town, Cayman Islands

At five stories tall, The Westin Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach Resort & Spa offers an antidote to high-rise resorts. It’s large enough to support all sorts of amenities—including a watersports outfitter, more than half a dozen bars and restaurants, fitness classes, and a spa—but small enough that you’ll never feel like you’re scrambling for space to relax.
Of its 343 rooms (renovated in 2018), half offer views of the Caribbean Sea—that’s the most ocean-view rooms on Seven Mile Beach. And unlike many other resorts in the area, this one is located right on the beach: 32 steps will take you from the lobby to the sand. While staying there, I could always hear the gentle lapping of the waves—a sure sign that you had a great vacation.
THE MIRACLE OF CHANGE: 11 tropical resorts getting major upgrades by 2026
The Westin Grand Cayman has a lot to offer families. Rooms have comfortable pull-out sofa beds and/or two beds, there are a number of connecting rooms, and there are also suites with several bedrooms. There is a Red Sails Sports lodge right on the beach which provides everything from jet skis and banana boats to paddle boards and kayaks.
During the school holidays, there are lots of additional family activities, including making sand sculptures. Bonus: The Westin’s focus on fitness and health translates into healthy food choices for kids (and activities like guided running programs for adults).
2. Kimpton Seafire Resort + Spa
West Bay, Cayman Islands

At the north end of Seven Mile Beach, Kimpton Seafire Resort + Spa shines like a beacon of relaxing luxury. This well-reviewed, eight-story resort was built after height restrictions along Seven Mile Beach were adjusted to allow for a taller hotel, giving many of its 264 guest rooms and suites unrivaled island and water views.
Local designers and island artists bring a little island coolness to the hotel’s public spaces, restaurants and guest rooms. During my visit, I found myself stopping in the hallways to admire the art and design touches that were both cool and told a little of the story of the Cayman Islands.
PLAY ALL DAY: 10 Caribbean family resorts with the coolest water parks
The resort is upscale yet family friendly, and big enough that people have different vacation goals (families let kids be kids And couples looking for a little relaxation and romance) can easily coexist. The biggest attraction for kids is probably Splash at Seafire, the resort’s water play area and waterslide (with plenty of comfortable seating for adults).
Camp Seafire is an on-site kids club for children ages five to 12. There’s also a family-friendly pool and plenty of beach toys (including kayaks and paddle boards) along the resort’s long stretch of beach. Rooms aimed at families include family suites with bunk beds in a separate sleeping area for the kids and two bathrooms.
3. Hampton by Hilton Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach
George Town, Cayman Islands

Among the most affordable Seven Mile Beach hotels, the Hampton by Hilton Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach is perfect for families looking for a fun, centrally located Grand Cayman experience that won’t break the bank. The rooms are clean and homely, with clean, comfortable linens and simple, peaceful decor.
TRY SOMETHING NEW: The most exciting new family hotels and resorts open in 2026
Unlike many hotels along Seven Mile Beach, the Hampton by Hilton Grand Cayman does not have direct beach access at the hotel; instead you have to walk down a small path to reach the southern end of Seven Mile Beach. But the hotel’s backyard is especially charming: It’s a perfectly sized tropical garden with pink and white striped umbrellas, a small, cheerful pool, plenty of seating, and Ms. Piper’s (even if you don’t live here, it’s worth ordering food at Ms. Piper’s).
Bicycle rental, shuttle service to and from favorite local beaches, and a variety of snacks throughout the day are included in the resort fee. The hotel has a variety of family-friendly accommodations, including one-bedroom and two-bedroom studios and suites.
4. Marriott Grand Cayman Resort
George Town, Cayman Islands

The Grand Cayman Marriott Resort has a prime position along Seven Mile Beach, although its approach to the waterfront is a little different than some of the other family-friendly resorts on the beach. Most of the Marriott’s waterfront is a seawall, and the beach is located on one side of the resort. This means that the resort’s pool, located on the deck next to the ocean, has one of the best ocean views on the island.
HAVE A HOTEL STAY: This Caribbean luxury resort has all the ingredients of a dream vacation
The Grand Cayman Marriott Resort has family suites with bunk beds, and standard guest rooms come with two beds or a pull-out sofa to maximize sleeping space. There are also some connecting rooms for large families or families with older children.
5. Caribbean Club

For families looking for a combination of vacation rental space and hotel amenities, Caribbean Club is a great choice, earning “Best of the Best” status on Tripadvisor. The Club has three and four bedroom suites and villas that are quite spacious and come with long balconies.

The staff will provide your kitchen so you don’t have to spend your holiday shopping. Hotel-like amenities include a fitness center and pool, concierge services, an on-site restaurant, and beach cabanas and lounge chairs at Seven Mile Beach.
6. Grand Cayman Local Hotels
West Bay, Cayman Islands

Locale Hotel Grand Cayman is a 42-room boutique hotel located 500 feet from Seven Mile Beach, meaning it’s only a five-minute walk from your room to the beach. Although it’s not located right on the beach, this well-reviewed hotel is especially appealing to families for two reasons.
CLOSE TO HOME: Everything is included at this stress-free, all-inclusive family resort right here in the USA
First, the hotel has a 575-square-foot family suite that sleeps six people. And second, it’s one of the most affordable options along Seven Mile Beach. Included in the rate is daily breakfast, Wi-Fi, and amenities like the hotel’s saltwater swimming pool.
Bonus: Vacation rentals on Seven Mile Beach
All licensed vacation rentals are inspected annually by the Cayman Islands tourism board, so travelers can feel confident in licensed properties (all properties must be licensed in order to be posted online). Because there is so much to see around Grand Cayman, and because it is easy and safe to travel, vacation rentals can be a great choice for families looking for more space and independence. Booking sites including Vrbo, Tripadvisor and Luxury Cayman Villas list properties on or near Seven Mile Beach.
Among the most popular condo and villa rentals along Seven Mile Beach are Villas of the Galleon and Casa Caribe. Taking this route gives you less of the standard hotel amenities but more space and extras like a kitchen and living room, which can be a great thing if you’re trying to manage costs, as eating out all the time increases the cost of a vacation quickly.
